We just got back from 2 weeks vacation in the sunny Mayan Rivieria. When we left, the weather here wasn’t too bad (-3 deg C), but when we got back…holy crap! -33 deg C.

We all had a great time down south. 2 weeks seemed to be the perfect amount of time. Last year we went for a week, and that just didn’t feel long enough. We were just starting to wind down when we had to think of coming home. This time we are all relaxed, rejuvenated but still not ready for -33!

Again, we met Lynda’s sister and family at the resort (they are from Toronto) and the girls are always excited to see their cousins. Amy & Dean have 3 girls as well, all close in age to ours, so it works out great.

We did one excursion this time to Xel-Ha, which was a blast. We swam with the dolphins, snorkeled in amazing waters, did some zip lining, and I jumped off the cliff of courage (around 20 feet high, which you have to climb up on a rope before you jump off the top!).

Everyone had a great time swimming, eating and drinking, laying on the beach catching rays, eating, drinking, seeing the shows, drinking, and eating…

I bought a Nikon AW100 underwater point & shoot camera before the trip, and I spent a lot of time in the water snapping pics and taking video. So far I’m fairly impressed with the photo quality of the underwater shots.

Newborn AJ

I had the pleasure of photographing little newborn AJ in my studio. What a wonderful baby! He didn’t sleep a wink during the whole session. It’s nice when they decide to take a nap, they look so cute sleeping. But AJ was just too curious.

Chelsea & Adam…Married!

Fall Family Portraits

Another beautiful fall day last Saturday (seriously, we should have had this weather in July!), and another great fall afternoon photo shoot. It was time for the Clark family to get some updated family photos, and they couldn’t have picked a better day! The leaves are changing nicely, the weather is holding…it is just beautiful out there.

What a beautiful fall evening to get your engagement photos done! Jamie, Dustyn and Mylee…you are going to love your photos!

I can’t wait to photograph your wedding next year.

I might have started to break the curse on my sunset photo shoots. You see, every single time I plan on a session around sunset, or at a wedding when I want to pull the bride and groom outside to do some quick sunset photos, I get a very flat sunset. Any clouds that were in the sky suddenly disappear when I get the pose, and my camera all set. The sky then usually just goes from light to dark. Boring. But finally, tonight…we had some clouds! And the sunset wasn’t too bad! Maybe my curse has lifted…

Family Group Portraits

Later on Sunday afternoon I had the pleasure to photograph this wonderful family. We all took a nice walk down the bike path to the old train trestle. The kids were all well behaved and the adults were mostly well behaved (kidding!). We all had a great time and got some great shots.

Down by the river

That’s where we were Sunday afternoon when I had the pleasure of photographing the Onyschuk family. It was a beautiful afternoon, although I wished for a few clouds to tame that high intense sun! That’s okay, we got some great images regardless. It’s nice to have great weather this late into September, so I’m not complaining.

Newborn Addyson

One week old Addyson was the star of the show on Sunday. With lots of help from big brother Ty, we managed to get some great shots! Addyson was wide awake and hungry for most of this session, but with plenty of breaks for feeding and some soothing words from Mom, Dad and big brother, we managed for the most part to keep her calm and soothed in front of the lens.

1st Birthday, cake smash!

Last year right around this time I had the pleasure to photograph newborn Victoria. You may remember her:

Well guess who is now one year old! Victoria and her parents graced my studio this week for the traditional one year birthday cake smash. We got some awesome images and we all had a blast. Victoria had the most fun I think, as towards the end she was ‘shampooing’ her hair with mushed cake!
